The Code of Ethics for the Regroupement des professionnels de l’Exportation (REPEX)

REPEX considers that this code of conduct will help establish trust between group members and all other economic players, through the use of sound business practices.

Goals

The code of ethics was developed by REPEX to assure the business community that its members conduct business in a professional and ethical fashion while respecting the best interest of all parties and stimulating the organization’s role in the Quebec and Canadian economies.

Code of Ethics

To this regard, REPEX members understand, agree to and pledge to obey the following principles in the code of ethics:

1. Respect the current laws and regulations in Quebec and Canada and cooperate with governmental agencies in an appropriate manner.
2. Protect and promote the profession’s reputation by maintaining high levels of service, commitment and integrity.
3. Apply fair pricing principles for services rendered to clients.
4. Reveal any personal interest linked to a transaction to each corporate client or third party involved.
5. Do not reveal any confidential information with regards to a client without his/her consent, unless otherwise required to by law.
6. Do not distort any information concerning one’s qualifications or experiences to a client, to the profession or to the public.
7. Pledge to always act in the interest of clients when executing duties or, if professional responsibilities require one to do otherwise, to inform the client so that he/she is always able to make an informed decision.
8. Do not publish any press releases or advertisements that could deceive the public or override the dignity of this profession.
9. Adopt healthy and fair competition practices.
10. Only associate with professionals that respect and share the same ethical principles. 11. Promise not to sell or promote one’s professional products and/or services in the name of REPEX and not to use its association to the group in an ill-advised manner.
12. Promise not to speak on behalf of REPEX without official authorization and not to directly solicit its members by mail for self-promotional means.

In addition, in compliance with the code of ethics, REPEX members must:

1. Act in honesty and integrity at all times, as prescribed in the code of ethics.
2. Keep the documenting system up to date throughout every step of the transaction process for the sake of transparency.
3. Make sure that all contractual arrangements are clear and that there is full and fair comprehension of the products and services provided.
4. Encourage continuing education in the international business field, whether for oneself or one’s employees.
5. Establish internal authorization procedures to ensure that the information provided to clients by their employees has been duly approved.
6. Only offer products or services for which their qualifications are recognized.
7. Use sound business practices in situations where rules have not been formalized. By consequently agreeing to the preceding statements and pledging to conform to the above, one’s right to remain a member is preserved, according to REPEX rules.
